Software Developer Intern for Weapons Effects Software

Join our team of software developers and engineers developing diverse tools for weaponeering and vulnerability assessment. Our interns are valued members of the team tasked with work that is critical to the success of our projects. Tasks include data analysis, model development, code modification, validation and verification exercises, automation of testing processes, and much more.

Applied Research Associates, Inc. is seeking Software Developer Interns to support the IMEA and VAPO projects on site in Raleigh, NC. Our staff of recognized experts uses state-of-the-art software to integrate accredited engineering models that provide complete, comprehensive answers for many diverse weaponeering and vulnerability assessment problems. We have expertise and provide engineering solutions in areas such as weapon penetration, cratering, blast effects, fragmentation, structural damage, human injury, weapons of mass destruction (WMD) agent release and dispersion, etc.

Additionally, our professional software development team has designed and produced software systems ranging from integrated multi-disciplinary design and optimization systems to 3D interactive design/analysis systems, weapons effects and operational mission planning systems, electronic technical manuals, cyber security applications, multimedia database management systems, and technical hypertext systems. We develop software using the latest hardware and software technologies including C++, C#, Java, Python, CORBA, .Net, and XML.

Position Requirements:
  • Graduate student or 4th year undergraduate student in computer science or related fields
  • Programming aptitude and desire in C++
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Position Preferences:
  • Experience with C++11
  • Knowledge of agile software development
  • Experience developing Qt and/or MFC GUIs
  • Experience using XML SDKs

This position requires strong coding skills in C++, C++/CLI and C#. In order to consider your application, we may require that you take a programming test prior to interviewing.
