Business Management Internship - Fleet Management

Fleet Management maintains more than 2,100 vehicles and pieces of equipment. Fleet Management’s goal is to sustain city vehicle availability at 95% or better. It also tracks vehicle usage and maintenance costs, prioritizes vehicle replacements, procures new vehicles and heavy equipment, and contracts for fuel used by City and County of Denver vehicles.

The Fleet Management Team at the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is seeking a Business Management Intern for the Spring of 2020. This is a great opportunity to learn the business and administrative side of one of the largest departments and organizations in the City and County of Denver.

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to experience:
  • Creating/running reports
  • Analyzing data
  • Providing customer service; serve as an available resource to managers
  • Assist with event planning and communications
  • Assist in New Vehicle Check-In
  • Assisting with special projects
  • Assisting with invoices and vehicle documentation
  • Learning and using Fleet systems

Our ideal candidate will have/be:
  • A current junior or senior college student pursing a degree and wanting to gain general business experience
  • Will be proficient in MS Suite
  • Have previous experience working in an office environment (or looking to gain experience in an office environment)
  • Willing to learn and provide support to management
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Engaged by data systems and analysis

  • Education Requirement: Current enrollment in an accredited college program leading to a certificate, licensure, associates, bachelor’s, or higher degree in, or a recent graduate (completed specified program within 1 year of completion)
  • Education and Experience Equivalency: No substitution of experience for education is permitted
  • License/Certification Requirement: By position, may require a valid Driver's License at the time of application
  • Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
