Network Operations Intern
Are you ready to get some hands-on experience with an amazing team? Sparklight is looking for a Network Operations Intern for the summer session. You will spend 12 weeks learning and working on our Network Operation Center’s fiber circuit database.
When our Network Operations Center (we call them NOC for short) isn’t working hard, you will find them enjoying a latte from our espresso machine, trying out the food trucks that come to our office every Tuesday, playing a competitive game of foosball or working off some energy in our on-site gym!
What you will do:
For 6 weeks, you will work on:
- Logging into Sparklight’s network devices.
- Running various commands.
- Harvesting data from the network including backbone physical termination points, handoff junctions and distances.
- Contacting Local systems and circuit vendors to collect data unable to be obtained via logins.
- Updating and uploading updated diagrams to the database
For 9 weeks, you will work on:
- Basic Networking Concepts.
- Sparklight’s Fiber Backbone architecture.
- Ciena, Nokia, Alcatel Lucent, Juniper and Cisco command line interface (CLI).
- Microsoft Visio as pertains to circuit diagrams
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in an associates or undergraduate degree program in a degree related to Computer Science or Networking
- Experience working in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Top notch communication skills
- Excitement to learn and prepare yourself for your upcoming career!

Internship duration and schedule: 30 to 40 hours per week; 12 weeks.
