Intern-Cyber Security

Position will work 15-20 hours weekly during regular business hours (8:00 am - 5:00 pm)


POSITION PURPOSE:

Developing an individual’s understanding of the fundamental controls and tasks that make up a cybersecurity program through assisting with the planning, coordinating, designing and implementing of security measures to safeguard WoodmenLife’s (WL) Information Resources against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure. This would also include developing and reviewing security policies and procedures as well as monitoring and auditing user access and activity.
                      

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with the development, implementation, maintenance and monitoring of the security levels on all Information Resources and users to ensure they meet WL policies and standards requirements.
  •  Assist with the enforcement of security policies and procedures by administering and monitoring security profiles; reviews security violation reports; updates, maintains and documents security controls; and investigates possible security exceptions.
  • Conduct security audits on all applications and systems used by WL; provides thorough documentation and presents findings along with recommending solutions, alternatives, and procedural changes to improve security deficiencies.  
  • Works with the Legal department to ensure that WL’s policies and procedures are in compliance with continuously changing government and industry regulations with regard to security measures.
  •   Conduct research and/or develop new information security techniques and evaluate their applicability to WL’s Information Resources. Develop, facilitate, and present new techniques to identified users of WL’s systems and networks while continuing to train on current techniques.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently working toward a degree in Cyber Security or Information Systems.
