Software Development and Testing Internship - Denver International Airport

Denver International Airport is the 20th-busiest airport in the world and the 5th-busiest airport in the United States, serving 64.5 million passengers last year and generating more than $26 billion for the region annually. DEN is the largest and newest commercial airport in the United States and consists of 15 million square feet of built environment.

Denver International Airport’s Business and Technologies division is looking to fill 3 applications developer internships for the summer of 2020. This position will be part of the Application Development Team that supports the project and maintenance needs of the Airport’s enterprise web applications.

This is an on-call position with an expected start date of June 1, 2020 and an end date of August 7th, 2020.  This position is expected to work no more than 39 hours per week and is not eligible for benefits.

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to experience:

Applications Developer:
  • Determining the level of effort for requested services or changes to existing services
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve application, database, operating system, and network issues
  • Design, develop, and support new features and integrations for critical enterprise applications
  • Ownership of assigned tasks from initiation through completion
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and leads the effort for the improvement

Q/A Testing:
  • Assist development teams in optimizing existing systems
  • Assist in document notification
  • Quality Assurance and Testing on multiple software platforms
  • Project management
  • Assist in UI/UX testing
  • Participate in triage and troubleshooting
  • Assist in root cause analysis and defect triage

Our ideal candidate will have/be:
  • Minimum of a sophomore standing or higher pursing a degree in Computer Science, Information systems, Mathematics, or a related field specific to the departmental and/or work assignment.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Demonstrate leadership
  • Knowledge of agile processes and best practices
  • ServiceNow experience
  • Experience in JavaScript, .net framework, or similar language
  • Proficient in SQL queries and reports
  • Familiar with BI or other analytical foundation
  • Experience integrating enterprise applications
  • Experience working with a modern version control system such as GIT
  • Experience working with a portfolio of on-premises, cloud hosed, and mobile application, platforms and services

  • Education Requirement: Current enrollment in an accredited college program leading to a certificate, licensure, associates, bachelor’s, or higher degree in, or a recent graduate (completed specified program within 1 year of completion).

  • Education and Experience Equivalency: No substitution of experience for education is permitted
  • License/Certification Requirement: By position, may require a valid Driver's License at the time of application
  • Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment

FBI Background Check: FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN). Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment.
